Many people simply give up on their dreams or don’t even have any. I believe it is very important to dream and not just to dream but to dream big. I grew up being influenced by what other people thought of me. Society always pressured me to act a certain way. It took me a while to realize that I am the one who decides how I act. Dreaming big may seem crazy to many people, but if you think about it, the crazy people are always the ones who end up changing the world. Here are 6 main reasons why you should dream big:
Focus and have a purpose in life
Make your dream your goal in life. Chase it even if they call you crazy. Wake up every morning and achieve your goals. Nothing is easy, but if you work at it every day, the hard work will definitely pay off. Never give up on it, no matter how small. It can be something as simple as breaking a bad habit. People will never know what your dreams mean to you, so keep it to yourself and show them your success instead.
“All the greatest men are maniacs. They are possessed with a mania that drives them towards their goal. Great scientists, philosophers, religious leaders – all maniacs. genius, would have kept them in the groove of the goal .Mania…is as priceless as genius.” — Ian Fleming, English author and journalist
Go in the right direction
Having a dream helps you move in the right direction. It feels good to wake up knowing what you’re doing with your life. However, that still doesn’t change the fact that it’s totally okay to feel lost. There will always be days when you feel down and hopeless. In my daily diary I have endless pages with the title Lost. Reading them again gives me a feeling of power. Powerful that I was strong enough to get through those bad days.
“Remember this: the journey is part of the dream. Whatever you pursue, as long as you are actively moving in the right direction, the dream will come true.
— Richelle E. Goodrich, American novelist and poet
Manage your time wisely
It’s something I learned the hard way. I spent most of my day sleeping. I had nothing to do so why should I wake up? However, when I started having a purpose in my life, every second counted. It was crazy how much I was going to do in just twenty-four hours. Plus, the exact same twenty-four hours that I would consider insufficient to complete a school assignment. You control how you spend your time. You can choose to waste it or invest in it, but choose wisely.
“The day is 24 hours; we sleep 6 hours, so you have 18 hours left. So don’t ever give me this thing: ‘I work 12 hours, so I don’t have time for exercise and practice.” Or “I don’t have time to study another language” and all those sorts of things. 6 p.m.; so use the 6 p.m., that’s what I’ve always believed in, and I feel like it’s the only way forward.” — Arnold Schwarzenegger, actor, filmmaker, writer and former politician
challenge yourself
You will always be faced with difficult situations. These are the things that will help you grow and get through the stage you are in right now. If you want to continue to progress, you will have to accept all the challenges and obstacles that you will face. Prepare to work harder and break them instead of living the same day over and over again. One piece of advice I would personally give is not to admire successful people on social media. Social media is a place where people only share their success, not their stories. You will rarely have the opportunity to see one of them face difficulties while achieving their goals. This misconception might lead you to believe that they easily achieved their goals without hard work, which is completely untrue.
“Everyone wants to win. But to truly succeed – whether in sport, at work or in life – you have to be willing to work hard, overcome challenges and make the sacrifices necessary to be the best at it. you are doing.” — Ronda Rousey, American professional wrestler, Hollywood actress and author
Listen to yourself before listening to others
Sometimes it’s hard to ignore the voices echoing around you. Society can push you to think in a specific way. I grew up in a Middle Eastern family, where I was taught to care what people think of me. There were many things that I was not able to do because of this sick state of mind. It’s the 21st century and we should feel free to do whatever we want without being judged. Start by pushing back against the societal and cultural weights whispering in your head and face the invisible jury. Once you start believing in yourself, you stop worrying about what other people think of you when making life decisions. It’s your life and you are the master of it. You decide how to live it.
“Just pay attention to what excites you and what exhausts you. Be very careful when you’re the real you and when you’re trying to impress an invisible jury.” — Derek Sivers, American writer and entrepreneur
Nothing is impossible
Dreaming big can scare you. In fact, I am an Egyptian girl, who has never climbed a hill or a mountain, but I dream of being the first Egyptian woman to climb Mount Everest. This surely scares me but I know for some reason that it is possible. I believe in myself and in my abilities. I know that I could easily learn to climb mountains and fulfill my dream if I keep pursuing it. Nothing is impossible if you stick with it and never give up.
“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough” — Muhammed Ali, American professional boxer and social activist
