Summer 2021 is coming to an end – how many items have you checked off your to-do list? Have you been less active than you expected or gone out with your friends less than you would like?
It is not too late! Take your last chance to have fun this summer with your friends before ending it with regret.
*Disclaimer: Put health and safety first, so choose your activities wisely
1. A day in your city
Are you still hesitating about the assets of your beautiful city? Is there a pike market, state park, or big mall you wanted to visit but didn’t get a chance to visit? Or are there places you can’t wait to visit, but don’t have the time or a good excuse to do so? Now is your chance! Gather a few friends for a friendly hangout in the city to try some local delicacies, restock your closet before the school year starts, and snap some photos for your next Instagram post!
Depending on the size of your city, I recommend making plans accordingly. Here are some suggestions of what most cities have to offer, so use them as a reference to make sure you don’t miss a thing:
- Brunch
- Mall
- Movie theater
- I’m going go-kart
- laser shooting
- Berry picking
- Park/picnic
- Ice cream/confectionery shop
- Manicure
2. Visit the gallery or museum
An artist? Art lover? It’s never a bad idea to bring a friend with you to a local gallery or museum.
Art galleries are seasonal, personalized, and more interactive, usually designed with multiple rooms that guide you on a journey through a specific artist’s paintings. From Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet to modern artists like Picasso and Banksy, you only need to do a basic search to find what’s available in your area!
Museums are permanent structures that are usually larger in size and are not specialized in displaying one artist, but rather several artists from a similar period or with a similar style. Most cities are home to many – large and small, realistic and abstract paintings and sculptures – so be sure to find the one that best suits your interests. Look here for local museums if none immediately come to mind.
3. Creative Class
Book a creative class with your friend, even if it’s a session on something you’re not an expert on. Experiment and innovate in a pottery, drawing or cooking class, creating DIY gifts for yourself, for each other or for each other!
Below are some session ideas you can try out with your friends:
- Pottery/carving
- Art (drawing, painting, glass art, etc.)
- Baking/Pastry
- Chocolate
- Yoga
- Bouquet of flowers
- Gardening
4. Day at the beach
Swimsuits, lemonade, friends. Can anything be more summery than that? Release your energy and the monster of stress and anxiety that has started building up inside you. Share stories about your summer with your closest friends and play some truth or dare tricks to increase the excitement!
At the beach, there is so much more to do than swim. Check out this list below for ideas!
- bonfire
- Barbecue
- Sunbath
- Beach volleyball
- Spa
- Surfing
- Watch the sunrise/sunset
5. House party
Quarantine has brought us all closer to home, whether in desirable or frustrating ways. Now is the time to invite some friends over to “spoil things” or give you a break from your usual routine.
- Cards or board games
- movie night
- Games/Xbox
- potluck
- Dance and karaoke
- Sleepover
Ready to go !
Once you’ve decided what to do and got a satisfying list of friends on board, you’re good to go! Don’t forget to choose an elegant outfit to set the mood, charge your phone beforehand to take photos and put on sunscreen to avoid sunburn. I’m sure it will become a fun experience imprinted in your memories of summer 2021.
