10 healthy habits to incorporate into your morning routine

You wake up to the ringing of your alarm clock. No cars pass and the roads are empty. The only noise you hear is the noise of the sprinklers watering the lawns of the neighboring houses. What do you do before the rest of the world wakes up? It’s important to start the day right, and these healthy habits will certainly help you do just that.

1. Avoid your phone

Technology is an integral part of our lives. It’s how we communicate with our family and friends around the world and it’s the reason we were able to continue to receive an education during the coronavirus pandemic. But, aside from these benefits, looking at your phone first thing in the morning is not the best solution. better habit to have. We can easily be overwhelmed by the plethora of text messages and social media notifications, all of which can make us feel stressed or anxious.

Push yourself to ignore the hum of your phone.

2. Have a clean room

A cluttered room will be clutter your mind. On the other hand, a clean room will purify your mind. What better way to start your day than with an organized room? Even though cleaning your room may seem like a mundane and tedious task, it is one that will dramatically change the way you feel in the morning.

Before going to bed, I make sure to tidy up a bit. It allows me to fall asleep with a sense of peace. Then, in the morning, the very first task I perform is to make my bed. Later that night, I am happy to be greeted by a neat space.

3. Create a to-do list

Even if you’re not sure what exactly you have planned for the day, write down a few tasks you hope to accomplish or progress. A schedule, detailed or brief, will help you become more productive and efficient, especially during busy days. A to-do list can keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

4. Be outdoors

The fresh air, the chirping of birds and the quietness of the outdoors are especially beneficial in the morning. With a hot cup of tea or coffee in my hands, I take a seat on the rocking chair on my veranda. Watching the trees sway and the sunlight cast on the plants and flowers gives me a sense of clarity. Some days, I treat myself to a walk in my neighborhood.

Whether it’s just sitting on the grass or going for a run, enjoying the time outdoors is sure to put you in a better mood.

5. Move your body

There’s nothing worse than waking up with stiff neck or back pain. But, in this uncomfortable situation, stretching can help. Stretching in the morning can relieve any tension and increase your blood circulation. As little as fifteen seconds can have you going about your day feeling calm and comfortable.

6. Write affirmations

This will be by far the most difficult habit to implement in your morning routine. Even though giving yourself compliments may seem awkward and embarrassing, it will definitely improve your day. Starting your day with positive thoughts and words will not only give you confidence, but also motivation.

7. Read

Before browsing through social media apps or your text messages, encourage yourself to spend time reading, whether it’s an online article or a book. Reading can reduce your stress and improve your concentration for the long day ahead.

Even if you’re inclined to watch TV or Netflix, try reading first!

8. Fuel your body

Breakfast is known as the most important meal of the day for a reason. Eating a balanced meal will set you up for success. Fill your plate with protein, carbs, fat, and ideally some vegetables and fruit. Your breakfast should give you energy, satisfaction and satiety.

My favorite breakfast is a smoothie with frozen banana, mango, pineapple, cucumber, spinach and almond milk, but I make sure to pair my smoothie with toast topped with nut butter.

9. Hydrate

After running for hours at a basketball game, you definitely drink water. On a hot day, of course, you drink water. However, there is another time of your day when drinking water is crucial: immediately after you wake up.

Drinking water in the morning clears the stomach and therefore helps boost the immune system. This habit seems to slip away from me frequently, but I’ve found that keeping a glass of water on my bedside table reminds me in the morning to hydrate.

10. Treat yourself

Your whole morning routine doesn’t have to be full of tasks and chores. Whether it’s playing with your dog outside or baking treats, do something good for yourself. By far, the most important element of your morning is really to profit from your routine.

Even though I push myself to read, exercise, and stretch, among other things, I still watch television in the morning with my mom. I cherish the twenty minutes I get to spend time with my mother before she leaves for work. Never forget to take time for yourself.

Some days maintaining your routine will be difficult. However, you should refrain from feeling angry or frustrated if you find yourself pressing “snooze” on your alarm. Avoid making your morning routine tiring. Create one you can’t wait to wake up to. If you don’t feel like this every night before you go to sleep, your routine may not be right for you.
